The paradise2012 Visual Music Page
Visual Music
In a (long) sentence, Visual Music is the result of aesthetic, preferably
synaesthetic, integration of music and
art, in which the art is as dynamic as the music, and may or may not have
some direct relationship to the music. ie, an oscilloscope can provide
a very direct relationship to the music, and can qualify, but a visual
music composer has the license to extend the original composition into
the visible octaves using simple, "tonal" visual primitives be they color
swatches, or fully animated 3d models. It's all Visual Music.
Have you seen Disney's Fantasia? Well, that's the idea... (MTV is not
the idea.)
Dr. Paradise is developing an implementation of a Light
Synthesizer, a visual instrument (produces a digital video stream)
which takes midi signals as inputs and translates that information into
complex, dynamic graphical representations of the midi notes...
This clip shows the
result of Iasos' "Golden Harp", a custom
arpeggiated midi harp, and Dr. Paradise's Light Synthesizer, which turned
that midi stream into visible graphics. It was a completely impromptu
jam session but still serves as an excellent example of the potential
of Visual Music...

Dr. Paradise is pleased to announce the global unveiling of his latest invention,
OrbitalFX(tm),
a digital software simulation of analog oscillators, dynamically patchable
to any of hundreds of the parameters normally used by the Abekas DVEOUS
realtime digital video effects hardware.
